ADVANCED WARNING OF REDSTONE ROAD CLOSURE – SPRING 2024
I am writing on behalf of the A40 Llanddewi Velfrey to Redstone Cross Improvements to inform you of an upcoming road closure at the northern section of Redstone Road, near the junction at the A40. This closure will have an impact on residents and businesses in the immediate area. The purpose of this closure is to facilitate the connection to the newly constructed Redstone Bridge and slip road down onto the new A40 Trunk Road. As part of this project, we will need to remove the old road.
The A40 and Redstone Road will close at the location of the bridge and slip road on Friday 19th April 2024 at 8pm. The main A40 Trunk road will re-open on Monday 22nd April 2024 at 6am. During this period we will construct the new slip road from the existing A40 towards the north side of bridge and back down onto existing A40.
The Redstone Road section will remain closed for approximately 3.5 weeks. Please note that the closure will only affect a small section of Redstone Road at the new Redstone Bridge. During this period, direct access to Redstone Road from the A40 will not be possible. However, access from the southerly direction will be maintained, and you should see no difference in access from Narberth town centre. During this closure we will complete the stats works and upfill for the bridge connection to the south side of Redstone Bridge then re-opening to allow traffic flow from and to the A40.
Our priority will be to offer additional assistance to businesses that use large and heavy goods vehicles, and we will be reaching out to these businesses separately.
We will be arranging a drop-in Community Engagement Event on Wednesday 28th February from 10am – 6pm at Bloomfield Community Centre, Narberth. If you have any questions regarding the closure please drop-in to meet the project team who will be happy to discuss in more detail.

While the closure is still some time away, we wanted to provide early warning to local residents and businesses about these upcoming works. We are also in close coordination with Pembrokeshire County Council regarding this project.

Ar ran tîm Gwella’r A40 o Landdewi Felffre i Groesffordd Maencoch, rydym yn ysgrifennu atoch i’ch hysbysu am ein bwriad i gau heol yng Ngwanwyn 2024. Mae’r hysbysiad hwn yn rhoi rhybudd cynnar a manylion yr effaith ar ran ogleddol Heol Maencoch, yn enwedig ger ei chyffordd â’r A40.
Manylion y cau
Er mwyn hwyluso cysylltiadau hanfodol â Phont Maencoch sydd newydd ei hadeiladu a’r slipffordd gysylltiedig i gefnffordd newydd yr A40, byddwn yn cau rhan o Heol Maencoch a’r A40 dros dro. Mae hyn yn hanfodol ar gyfer cael gwared ar yr hen heol ac integreiddio’r seilwaith newydd yn ddiogel ac yn effeithlon.
Bydd cyffordd yr A40 a Heol Maencoch yn cau yn lleoliad y bont a’r slipffordd hyd at Gartref Gofal Blaenmarlais
- Dechrau – Dydd Gwener, 19 Ebrill 2024 am 8pm
- Gorffen – Bydd prif gefnffordd yr A40 yn ailagor ddydd Llun, 22 Ebrill 2024 am 6am
Bydd rhan Heol Maencoch yn aros ar gau am rai wythnosau a bydd yn ailagor erbyn dydd Llun 20 Mai 2024.
Mynediad yn ystod y cau
Bydd cau’r heol yn effeithio’n benodol ar y rhan o Heol Maencoch ger y Bont Maencoch newydd:
- Bydd mynediad uniongyrchol i Heol Maencoch i’r/o’r A40 yn cael ei atal yn ystod y cyfnod hwn.
- Bydd mynediad i weddill Heol Maencoch o ganol tref Arberth o hyd.
- Bydd trigolion cyffordd Maencoch yn cael mynediad i’w/o’u cartrefi
- Byddwn yn cwblhau gwaith seilwaith angenrheidiol, gan gynnwys addasiadau i gyfleustodau a chysylltiadau’r bont, er mwyn ailagor Heol Maencoch ar gyfer llif traffig i’r/o’r A40 cyn gynted â phosibl.
- Byddwn yn cysylltu â busnesau’n uniongyrchol i drefnu logisteg ar gyfer cludo nwyddau a deunyddiau.

Llwybr HGV a Thraffig Lleol i Heol Maencoch / Heol Northfield Drwy Gydol y Cyfnod Cau
On the evening of 8th & 9th September 2023 and overnight we will be switching the traffic management to allow cars to travel along the newly constructed southbound carriageway from the Coed Ely Roundabout to Duffryn Isaf Farm, at which point it will continue on the existing section of the A4119. Vehicles heading northbound will continue on the old carriageway until Phase 2A, from 22nd September. Please note, timescales are approximate and should any changes to this phase take place, a further update will be provided. The red hatched zones on the diagram indicate our working areas.
